The number of CMS items a Webflow site can hold is set by its site plan, not by the item itself. Each plan tier allows a fixed maximum of Collection items across the whole site, with higher tiers and Enterprise allowing more. The limits are revised from time to time, so check Webflow's current pricing page for exact figures.
The question is usually asked two ways, so here is the answer to both.
How many items can a Collection hold?
Webflow does not set a separate cap per Collection. Instead, every site plan has a maximum number of CMS items across the whole site. All items in all Collections count toward it: blog posts, authors, categories, team members, locations, testimonials. A site with ten Collections and one with two share the same ceiling.
How the limit scales
- The CMS plan has a moderate item limit, enough for most small-business blogs and portfolios.
- The Business plan allows significantly more items and bandwidth.
- Enterprise plans go higher again, with limits agreed with Webflow.
Webflow revises these numbers, so take the exact figures from the current pricing page rather than from an older article.
Other limits worth knowing
- Each site has a maximum number of Collections.
- Each Collection has a maximum number of fields, including reference and multi-reference fields.
- Collection lists on a page have a cap on how many items they display per list, which is why pagination exists.
Planning around it
Model your content before building. Merge Collections where you can, archive items you no longer need, and if the archive will grow into the many thousands, consider whether Webflow is the right CMS for that content.
